The Church Council would like to invite all Long
Lake Lutheran members to a “special”Congregational Meeting on Sunday, August
29th at 9:00 a.m. for the purpose of receiving the recommendation from the Call
Committee on a candidate for Senior Pastor and then voting to call the proposed
Senior Pastor. The Call Committee as elected during the 2010 annual meeting is
prepared at this time to recommend a candidate for call. In preparation for the
meeting on the 29th the call committee has followed a rigorous process with help
from the synod. Process steps included reviewing 12 pastoral candidates resumes
provided via nomination from our congregation, recommendations from the synod
and/or specific requests to be a part of the Long Lake Lutheran call process.
The call committee then chose 5 candidates for personal interviews; followed by
the opportunity to witness 3 of the candidates in a worship setting. This
process has been an awesome opportunity for each of the call committee members
with much discussion and prayer to reach this point. It is the call committees
belief that we have a candidate that will meet our needs as determined during
the transition teams efforts in 2009. We are excited and eager to share with you
our recommendation. On August 5th the Church council had the opportunity to meet
with the candidate and family and feel confident in positively endorsing the
candidate for call to lead the Long Lake Lutheran congregation in Mission and
Ministry to this community. On August 29th you will have the opportunity to hear
specific information about the candidate including a name and bio. Until that
time we need to protect privacy and exercise confidentiality for the sake of the
candidates congregation being served at this time. Once the vote is taken, if it
is positive, the letter of call will be completed and provided to the Synod and
Candidate. The candidate then has30 days to respond to the letter of call. Then
depending on the situation where they are currently working, they will have to
give notice and fulfill their obligations to that position. The candidate is
allowed 30-60 days to transition to their new church. This timing places a new
Pastor at Long Lake early November or early December. If the vote is negative or
the Pastor would say no to the call we would begin the process again with the
synod and a new timeline would be set.
Please make every effort to join us for this historic event as we move towards
our future.
Please continue to pray for all hearts and minds to be open for service and to
call.
Blessings,
Tony Steiner, Council chair
Ronda Fenlon, Call committee chair
