Good Friday morning. Getting excited for Sunday: 9:00 online or parking lot worship, Christ the King Sunday, Shawna preaching, basket and pie auction after the service! God is with us! God is good! All the time, God is good!

Revelation 4: 9-11

9 “And whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to the one who is seated on the throne, who lives forever and ever, 10 the twenty-four elders fall before the one who is seated on the throne and worship the one who lives forever and ever; they cast their crowns before the throne, singing,

11 “You are worthy, our Lord and God,

to receive glory and honor and power,

for you created all things,

and by your will they existed and were created.”

Here, again, is the choir of praise and thanksgiving. Nature and the church all praising God. Here John uses an image which the ancient world would know well. He says that the elders cast their crowns before the throne of God. To ancient people, this was a sign of complete submission. When one king surrendered to another king, he cast his crown at the victor’s feet.

The Roman Emperor claimed to be Lord and God. But John’s people knew “kurios kai theos” Only God is Lord and God. Christians would not acknowledge the emperor’s lordship, so they were persecuted and killed. God hold first place in the universe in this text. The world belongs to God!

Go outside today and say those words. “The world belongs to God!” You can say them out loud or in your head. Cast your crown at His feet! You could also look up some music by “Casting Crowns.” They are a great Christian band.

Blessings on your day,

Pastor Sue
