Good Food Truck Fellowship Wednesday! I can’t wait for the yummy food and seeing you. I hope you are planning to come. Remember to bring your mask and your lawn chair! I’m sorry to all of our distant followers that can’t join us. Watch FaceBook for a live posting at 6 pm.

1 John 4:1-6

4 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God; for many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, 3 and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. And this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming; and now it is already in the world. 4 Little children, you are from God, and have conquered them; for the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. 5 They are from the world; therefore what they say is from the world, and the world listens to them. 6 We are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us, and whoever is not from God does not listen to us. From this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

The writer is addressing the believers who have to answer to the secessionists leaving the church. The secessionists denied that Christ “came in the flesh.” In verse 5, it appears that they are having success with their message in the world.

In John 16:13-14, he writes about the Spirit of truth.

13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth; for he will not speak on his own, but will speak whatever he hears, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. 14 He will glorify me, because he will take what is mine and declare it to you.

Truth is precious, especially when the Holy Spirit is allowed into your life to guide your words and your actions. There are as many false prophets in our world today as there were when this was written. The Holy Spirit will also guide you to discover truth if you ask God for guidance and listen quietly for God’s answer.

Blessings on your day,

Pastor Sue
